Deanxit is for:
the anxiety rather than the IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome).
It contains two ingredients: flupentixol 0.5mg & melitracen 10mg, both drug have the properties to against depression. And it is supposed for short term use only.
Action
Flupentixol is a neuroleptic with anxiolytic and antidepressant properties.
Melitracen is a bipolar thymoleptic with activating properties in low doses. In combination, the compounds render a preparation with antidepressant, anxiolytic and activating properties and mutually neutralize side effects.
Indication
Anxiety, depression, asthenia. Psychogenic depressions. Depressive neuroses.
Masked depressions, long-lasting myogenic headache, migraine, gastrointestinal disturbances without organic findings. Psychosomatic affections accompanied by anxiety and apathy. Menopausal depressions. Dysphoria and depressions in alcoholics and drug addicts.
Dosage & Administration
Usually 2 tabs daily, morning and noon. In severe cases, the morning dose may be increased to 2 tabs.
Elderly Patients: 1 tab in the morning.
Maintenance Dose: Usually 1 tab in the morning.
During the initial Deanxit period, insomnia may occur and, therefore, the medication could be combined with Truxal 15-30 mg adjusted in accordance with individual requirements 1 hr before bedtime.
Note: If previously the patient has been treated with tranquilizers with sedative effect, these should be withdrawn gradually.
Contraindication
Extreme agitation, cardiac disorders and cardiovascular insufficiency. Pregnancy.
Deanxit should not be given to patients who have received a MAOI within 2 weeks.
Side Effect
In the previously-mentioned dosages, side effects are rare.
